Phew! The blusterous winter weather is finally behind us: the days are getting longer and going outdoors no longer fills you with dread. So dust off your walking boots and get ready for Spring 2008's instalment of the Guernsey Walking Week.

This twice-yearly event (sponsored by Healthy Direct™) has been growing from strength-to-strength since 2005 and this year looks set to be the best yet.

The Spring Walking Week starts on Saturday 10th May and finishes on Sunday 18th May and gives hikers and strollers alike the chance to explore both natural and man-made wonders on the beautiful island of Guernsey. The programme gives you the opportunity to walk from coast to coast, along cliff paths, around the town of St Peter Port or through some of the lesser-known parishes also steeped in history. There are all sorts of walks on offer to suit all 'walks' of life. There are coastal and inland half-day rambles as well as all-day hikes along the dramatic cliffs so that visitors can see the fantastic range of views and scenery offered by the islands.

Each walk is lead by an expert guide with vast local knowledge matched only by their passion for the islands. Your journeys will take you not just along footpaths, but through time too as you discover more about the local history, culture and people. It’s the ultimate way of exploring and discovering the charms of the Channel!

DON'T FORGET! If you can't make it along to any of the walks this May, you'll get a second chance later on in the year with the Autumn Walking Week from Saturday 20th September to Sunday 28th September.

Wandering FREE!
The guides are offering their walks at a special rate of £5 for each short or half day’s walking but if you’re a really keen walker you could do all of your walks for FREE thanks to Healthy Direct™’s rebate scheme:

Once you have finished and logged four or more walks from the programme, you can claim back their cost. Just ask your walking guides for a sticker for each walk you finish, and then return a completed form (available in the Walking Festival leaflet*) with the stickers attached to Healthy Direct™ (Healthy Direct House, PO Box 325, Pitronnerie Road Industrial Estate, St Peter Port, Guernsey GY1 2RQ). Your money will then be refunded to you directly.
